Excel for Genealogists: Unleash the Power of Spreadsheets In Your Family Research

About this event

Are you tirelessly collecting information from websites, census records, and archives to enrich your family history? Wondering how to efficiently manage and track all that information? Enter Excel: a tool every genealogist can use to improve their research, but often find overwhelming.

In this session led by Mark Thompson and hosted by the Victoria Genealogical Society, you'll receive straightforward, actionable guidance on harnessing Excel to elevate your genealogy research. Illustrated with real-world examples, learn how to use this powerful tool to organize, track, and analyze your family history findings with ease.

Mark Thompson is a professional genealogist and the Vice President of the Victoria Genealogical Society (VGS). He is also a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists.  Mark worked in information technology throughout his career and rarely goes a day without using Excel.  He has been using, and teaching people how to use, spreadsheets since the 1980’s.

Mark consults and speaks regularly on a wide range of genealogy-related topics, although specializes in DNA research and personal family archives.
