Event Categories
The Victoria Genealogical Society (VGS) offers several types of genealogy-related events and activities that are both educational and enjoyable. Events are typically scheduled between September and June. Most are open to both VGS members and non-members.
Locations, dates, times, and prices can vary for each individual event. They may be held:
- in person only at our VGS Centre OR Norway House OR other locations OR
- virtually only (Zoom or Teams) OR
- hybrid: your choice of attending in person or virtually

Speaker Events
The VGS invites speakers on a wide variety of genealogy-related topics, particularly those with local expertise, to present to our members on a monthly basis. Speaker events are free for members, and to the public for a small fee.
Workshops
VGS workshops provide educational, inspirational, and networking opportunities for those interested in a broad array of genealogy-related topics. Members and non-members are welcome at all workshops. VGS members receive a discounted rate to all workshops.
Seminars
VGS seminars are half or full day events offered periodically throughout the year, usually organized around a particular theme.
Special Interest Groups
SIGs are an opportunity to discuss your genealogy experiences and challenges with other members who are interested in the same kind of research that you are! SIGs are a free benefit available to current VGS Members only. Further details are available on the
