About this event
The parish registers of the Church of England exist from the late 1500’s to the present day and are the main source for genealogical information before the start of Civil Registration in 1837, and the census in 1841. The registers were created to record bapisms, marriages and burials but the information recorded varies over time. Besides the Church of England which was the Established Church, other denominations (non-conformist) also kept records.

Heather Shave is a long standing member of the Victoria Genealogical Society (VGS). She has instructed many workshops over the years, especially about England and Scotland, her areas of expertise.
